Resumo

The method of rapid fundus reflectometry was used in a comparative study of the photic reactions of the albino rabbit fundus and an extrafoveal region of man. The difference spectra resulting from exposing the eyes to light of various intensities and spectral composition were found to differ, and the reasons are believed to be due partly to the presence of the cone-pigments chlorolabe and erythrolabe in the human extrafoveal regions and partly to differences in the two types of visual purple. The "edema" effect previously noticed in man was also observed in live and dead rabbit eyes.
