Abstract A stochastic pure birth process, which describes pore blockage in a filtration process, has been coupled with the Carman‐Kozeny equation to simulate the pressure buildup in deep bed filtration. It has been shown that the resultant one parameter model equation fits adequately the experimental data obtained under the straining dominated condition, and that available data obtained under the adhesion dominated condition can also be described by the model.
