ResumoA biofilm is defined as an assemblage of surface-associated (not easily removed) microbial cells that are enclosed in a protective extracellular primarily polysaccharide matrix. Biofilms may form on a wide variety of surfaces, including living tissues, natural aquatic systems, industrial or potable water system piping, or implanted medical devices.1
