ResumoThe development of NMR spectroscopy into a multifaceted tool for chemists, biochemists, and medical doctors is certainly due in part to the research of Richard R. Ernst, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year. In his Nobel lecture he describes the evolution of the field from the first Fourier transform NMR spectra to two‐, three‐, and four‐dimensional experiments. With spectra of the cyclopeptide antamanide he illustrates how information on constitution, configuration, and conformation may be obtained with various NMR techniques.
