Resumo

Abstract Ascid mites (Ascidae) from various southwestern Colombian localities and altitudes were collected from the nasal cavities of hummingbirds and/or from angiosperm flowers visited by three birds. Twelve species, belonging to the genera Rhinoseius Baker and Yunker, 1964, Proctolaelaps Berlese, 1923 and Lasioseius Berlese, 1916, have been identified, and among them three are new: Rhinoseius caucaensis, R. haplophaedia and Lasioseius peterfuldi. The female of Rhinoseius panamensis Fain, Hyland and Aitken, 1977 is described for the first time. Keywords : AscidaeGamasidataxonomy Rhinoseius caucaensis sp. nov. R. haplophaedia sp. nov.
