Luminescence Properties of Advanced Materials

The Raman spectra of powdered, crystalline samples of the Hofmann-type benzene clathrates, Ni(NH3)2Ni(CN)4.2C6H6, Ni(NH3)2Ni(CN)4.2C6D6, Cd(NH3)2Ni(CN)4.2C6H6 and Cd(NH3)2Ni(CN),.2C6D6 have been measured at room temperature. Vibrational assignments are given for the bands arising from the host lattice and the guest molecules. Changes in the spectra when the samples are decomposed are also discussed.
