ResumoThis article discusses the influence the second part of Plato's Parmenides, and more specifically, its 3rd hypothesis, has exerted upon Plotinus and Iamblichus; or, better yet, the interrelation between the appropriation of the central concept of the third hypothesis, the instant, exaiphnes, (1) in Plotinus through the original appropriation of the concept of presence, parousia; and, (2) in Iamblichus, when he modified the structure of Parmenides' hypothesis, by introducing, before the first hypothesis, the Ineffable, thus shifting the soul to the
