The colony of C. albiceps (Wiedemann, 1819) was established from lalVae and adults colected in the "Estação para Pesquisa Parasitológiea W.O. Neitz" area at UFRRJ and Seropediea Distriet, Itaguai, Rio de Janeiro.(Latitude: 22°45'S; Longitude: 43°41'W and Altitude: 33 metres).The biologieal aspects of this speeies were studied in c1imatized chambers regulated at 60±10 % RH and 14 hours photophase.The duration and the viability of the lalVal and pupal stages of C. albiceps was 5,2 and 4,53 days; 95,75% and 94%, respectively.An effeet of group was obselVed on the lalVae at the first and second instar.The average weight of mature lalVae was around 75 mg, val)'ing between 12,2 to 120 mg.Only mature lalVae with average weight higher than 42 mg have originated adults.Oviposition peaks between the sixth and tenth days pos-emergenee were obselVed.Survival eUlVes of the males and females were estimated using the Weibull model.
