ResumoAbstract The results of a vegetation survey of a 10 ha area of regenerating lowland forest and scrub at Tutira Station are described. The survey follows the observations of the vegetation of “The Hanger” which were undertaken by H. Guthrie-Smith from 1882–1940. The regenerating forest is composed of two vegetation types: (i) fivefinger/mahoe forest on a steep slope, and (ii) fivefinger-kanuka/kohuhu scrub on a gentle flat. A number of large forest tree species have begun to establish in the secondary vegetation and it seems likely that a podocarp/tawa-titoki forest will eventually be re-established.
