Resumo

• We report a case of severe phenobarbital sodium overdose with a peak plasma concentration of 253 μg/mL, normally considered fatal. The patient was successfully treated with forced alkaline diuresis. Treatment was unusual in that dopamine hydrochloride was used to sustain the diuresis. ( Arch Intern Med 1981;141:938-940)
