Silver and mercury macrocyclic complexes: The synthesis and X-ray structures of [Ag([9]aneN2S)Cl] and [Hg([9]aneN2S)2](HgBr4)

ResumoComplexes of the nine-membered macrocyclic ligand 1-thia-4,7-diazacyclononane ([9]aneN2S) with silver(I) and mercury(II) have been prepared and the X-ray crystal structures of [Hg([9]aneN2S)2](HgBr4) (1) and [Ag([9]aneN2S)Cl] (2) determined. Mercury(II) is hexa-coordinated in complex 1, the coordination polyhedron is intermediate between an octahedron and a trigonal prism. Complex 2 consists of molecular units in which silver(I) is tetra-coordinated. The AgS distance is 261.1(2) pm.
