Resumo

The approximate arrangement of proposed long-term ecological research sites according to decrease of anthropogenic pollution is the following: Nemunas Delta > Kamanos > Drūkšiai > Čepkeliai. The main elements accumulating in dust from snow and in soil are Ag, Zn, Pb, Cu, Sn, Ni, Mo, Cr and V. Kamanos site is influenced by pollution from the Mažeikiai power plant and oil refinery, and from the Naujoji Akmenė cement plant. The majority of the main pollutants exhibit the highest background values in the western soil region and the lowest – in the southern. The arrangement of the corresponding river basins according to the decrease in the number of elements accumulating in stream sediments and belonging to the group of the mentioned pollutants is as follows: western part > eastern part > northern part > southern part. So all the sites have different environmental geochemical conditions for biota and are unequally affected by anthropogenic inorganic contributions.
