Resumo

Friday 31 October marks the Pagan festival of Samhain, the feast of the dead or, to some, the Celtic New Year. It also celebrates the Christian commemoration of All Hallow’s Eve, more commonly known now by the more secular celebration of Hallowe’en, the night before All Saints’ Day – another case of the appropriation of pre-Christian events and festivities by the developing Church.
