Resumo

The dynamics of vibrationally and rotationally excited planar OCS is analyzed within the framework of nonlinear classical mechanics. Results include critical energies for the onset of irregularity, an analysis of energy relaxation from excited zeroth order modes relative to the K-entropy prediction, and aspects of the OCS mechanical spectra. In addition, results relevant to the possibility of OCS multiphoton dissociation are presented, such as the range of energies over which the system is classically resonant with an external field and the nature of the C–S stretch to OCS bend coupling. Finally, a useful method for mapping tori onto triangle plots is presented.
