ResumoThis work studied the effect of corrosion products of aluminum sacrificial anodes embedded in reinforced concrete structures on cathodic protection. This evaluation used different mortar designs and anode geometries, electrochemical techniques and, at the field level, exposed cathodically protected concrete piles into water from Lake Maracaibo. The results indicate that the aluminum anode, embedded in mortar with 16.5 to 23.5% porosity and 0.1% Cl−, protected the reinforcing steel without cracking concrete for three years.
