These figures, compiled from various government agency sources, include 100 000 deaths per year from occupationally related illness, 3 200 000 persons disabled each year as a result of work-related illness or injury, 390 000 new cases of occupational diseases per year, and 10 million workers seeking care annually for an occupationally related condition (1).
