ResumoEffecting change in communities is a difficult process. Theatre is a way of creating this change in the classroom and in the broader community. This article is a lived experience that documents a theatre class creating their own piece to combat hate and discrimination they have experienced or witnessed in their town. Inspired by the Tectonic Theater Project's The Laramie Project, the students in this class took it upon themselves to discover how their own behaviour affects others and how hate has played a role in their lives and in their overtly homogeneous town. This experience helped to raise awareness not only among the participants but within the town as well.
