Synthesis and characterization of novel inorganic/organometallic compounds

The reaction of cyclo-octasulfur, S8, with halfsandwich compounds [Cp(*)M(CO)2](THF) (M = Mn, Re; Cp* = C5H5 or C5Me5) is interpreted as a degradation of S8 by the nucleophilic 16-electron complex fragments [Cp(*)M(CO)2]. The preparation as well as the spectroscopic and structural characterization of the 3 types of product, Cp(*)M(CO)2(S2), [Cp(*)M(CO)2]2(μ-S2), and [Cp(*)M(CO)2]2 (μ-S), are described1. Die Reaktion von Cyclo-oktaschwefel, S8, mit Halbsandwich-Verbindungen [Cp(*)M(CO)2](THF) (M = Mn, Re; Cp* = C5H5 oder C5Me5) lässt sich als Abbau des Schwefelrings durch die nukleophilen 16-Elektronen-Komplexfragmente [Cp(*)M(CO)2] interpretieren. Es wird eine Übersicht gegeben über die Darstellung sowie die spektroskopische und strukturelle Charakterisierung der 3 entstehenden Produkttypen Cp(*)M(CO)2(S2), [Cp(*)M(CO)2]2(μ-S2), und [Cp(*)M(CO)2]2(μ-S)1.
