ResumoSUMMARY Historians interested in law and lawyers interested in history all find something of interest in both the civil law of classical Rome, the Corpus Juris Civilis, and the canon law of the Church of Rome, the Corpus Juris Canonici. This article describes the types of researchers who consult Roman and canon law sources, discusses the research needs of these researchers, and explains the varying citation formats that have been used for these works.
