Resumo

The electrochemistry of an electrodeposited iridium electrode on a titanium substrate in 0.5 mol dm−3 sulphuric acid was investigated. The efficiency of electrodeposition is enhanced at elevated temperatures and satisfactory coating is achieved at 343 K. Experimental evidence is shown for the presence of two types of oxide, using anodic galvanostatic polarization in the potential range of the oxygen evolution reaction. The compact type was formed at the inner part of the iridium oxide, while the hydrous type was detected at the metal/solution interface.
