ResumoAbstract Rupture of the gravid uterus is reported in less than one percent of women involved in motor vehicle accidents. A 22-year-old nulliparous woman at 22 weeks gestation was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Evaluation revealed a uterine rupture with complete expulsion of placenta and decapitated fetus. Prompt surgical intervention and control of hemorrhage allowed preservation of fertility.
