ResumoOne of the functions of formal education is to provide a forum for the examination and discussion of relevant and/or controversial issues. The examination of death and dying has become one of the latest concerns to surface in education. As Wass (1) has stated, “We as individuals as well as a society have problems with death and dying, and if our aim is to solve them, we must clearly identify these problems, then consider all the facts, and use this information in trying to find solutions” (p. xv). This chapter represents an attempt to examine the feasibility of death education for the pre-adolescent and adolescent age groups within the school setting.
