FOR SOME, the headline will read as a literal truth – children are in their early years until they reach secondary education. For fans of the 1984 movie Spinal Tap, this will have other connotations – when the group's guitarist explained to the film maker that his amplifier went beyond the normal volume of 10, and all the way up to 11! Hold on, you may be thinking, why the spurious link between the early years and a funny, albeit fictional, documentary about a rock band? Well, let me clear the waters for you – and rest assured, it has nothing to do with my one brush with rock superstardom at my college's ‘battle of the bands' – I have never taken to the stage since!
