Synthesis and Characterization of Multilayer Films of Dendrimer-Assembled C60 Materials on Nanocrystalline TiO2 Electrodes

ResumoNanocrystalline TiO2 electrodes were silanized and further modified with C60 fullerene films linked by Starburst™ (PAMAM G0.0) dendrimers of poly(amidoamine), generation 0.0, using a layer- by-layer technique into either branched dendritic or linear structures. The resulting films provide organized nanoassembled photoactive surfaces that adsorb in the visible region and offer a high molar extinction coefficient. The linear nanocomposite structure in particu- lar increases the photocurrent efficiency of the polycrystalline TiO2 and decreases the recombination effect, yielding a global collection efficiency of 0.14%. Resumen: Electrodos nanocristalinos semiconductores de TiO2 fue- ron silanizados y modificados con peliculas de fulereno C60 y dendri- meros de poli(amidoamina) generacion 0.0 (PAMAM G0.0), usando la tecnica de capa-por-capa en una secuencia dendritica y lineal. Las peliculas resultantes proporcionan superficies nanoensambladas foto- activas organizadas que, ademas de absorber en la region visible, pre- sentan altos coeficientes de extincion molar. En particular, la organi- zacion lineal incremento la eficiencia de fotocorriente del TiO2 poli- cristalino minimizando el efecto de recombinacion, con lo que se alcanzo una eficiencia de coleccion global del 0.14%.
