ResumoPollen analysis has been applied to three lœss profiles and has allowed us to recognize the Amersfoort, Brørup, Odderade and Paudorf interstadials. The pollen diagrams show also that during the cold phases of the Riss and the Würm glaciations, the lœssic substratums are colonized by a steppic vegetation in which the Gramineae dominate. Along river beds, fringing forests can persist and colonize the alluvial sediments. The study of pollen penetration through recent loamy soils allows us to conclude that pollen percolation is not possible in lœss, on account of its close texture.
