ResumoAlthough drugs are responsible for therapeutic activity, it is a medicine and not a drUg which a patient receives in the treatment of an illness. The difference separating a medicine from a drug is the presence in medicines of pharmacologically inert ingredients or excipients which modify a whole variety of physical, physico-chemical and physico-mechanical properties of the drug and these may lead to changes in the biopharmaceutical performance of the system.
