ResumoThe profound immediate mobilization of neutral fat and cholesterol reported following soybean lipositol fraction infusion in the normal rabbit could not be demonstrated in the rabbit made hypercholesterolemic by cholesterol feeding. A delayed mobilization of neutral fat was noted 24 hours after the infusion of lipositol in saline to hyperlipemic rabbits. Contrary to results reported by others, the phosphatide infusions had no effect on the development of atherosclerosis and did not result in the resorption of already developed atherosclerotic plaques in the rabbit.
