Learn more.Copy URL Share a linkShare onFacebookTwitterLinkedInRedditWechat Abstract Summary The effect was evaluated of benzocaine in Prochilodus lineatus juveniles using concentrations of 1:20,000, 1:15,000, 1:10,000 and 1:5,000 at 20 and 25°C in individuals weighing 5.5–26.6 g. Experiments showed that the optimum doses to obtain a complete stage of sedation were: 1:5,000 at 20°C and 1:10,000 at 25°C, which insure rapid and effective anesthesia as well as give enough time for operative procedures. The results can be aplied in exerimental investigations, which involve fish maintenance submitted to periodical control (Ength, weight, tagging, etc.). Résumé Utilization de la Benzocaine comme anesthéique chez des Procbilodus lineatus, Valenciennes(Pisces, Curimatidae) L'objectif a été d'évaluer les effets de cet anesthésique chez de jeunes exemplaires. On a essayé des concentrations de 1:20.000; 1:15.000; 1:10.000 et 1:5.000 sà 20 et 25°C chez des individus de 5,5 sà 26,6 g de oids. De expériences réalisées, on peut inférer que les doses optimes pour avoir un état complet de sédation ont été de: 1:5.000 sà 20°C et 1:10.000 sà 25°C avec lesquelles on assure une anesthésie rapide et efficace et un marge de temps suffisant pour effectuer les travaux opératifs qu'on requiem Les résultats pourront être appliqués aux recherches sà caractère expérimental qui impliquent le maintien de populations de poissons soumis sà des contrôles périodiques, (longueur et poids, repérages, etc.) Zusarnrnenfassung Benzocain als Betäubungsmittel für Prochilodus lineatus, Valenciennes (Pisces, Curimatidae) Die Wirkung von Benzocain wurde in vier Konzentrationen von 1:20000, 1:15000, 1:10000 und 1:5000 bei Temperaturen von 20 und 25°C an juvenilen Individuen untersucht. Die Tiere wogen zwischen 5,5–26,6 g. Eine ausreichend tiefe und lang andauernde Betäubung, die es erlaubt, unterschiedliche Manipulationen am Tier vorzunehmen, stellte sich bei 20°C bei einer Konzentration von 1:5000 und bei 25°C von 1:10 000 ein.
