Resumo

Objetive One of the main objectives in our effort to achieve a better diagnosis of the affected population is the early identification of a subject in a cardiovascular risk situation, by managing the cardiovascular risk factors. It is also taken into account that cardiovascular diseases are the first cause of death in the developed countries. The objective of this study is to assess the control of the Cardiovascular Risk Factors in our population. Methods A descriptive transversal study was conducted in December 2008 to a population of 289,923 patients from C. Álava (Basque Country, Spain) using an analysis of the OSABIDE programme database. Results An Hta screening was conducted to the 48.28% of the allocated population and to the 58.03 % of the patients who have come to our clinics at least once in the last 2 years, obtaining a prevalence of 14.51%. Glucose and cholesterol analysis to the 44.99% of the population and to the 76.61% of our patients, obtaining a prevalence of diabetes of 6.64% and of hypercholesterolemia of 13.79%. Body Mass Index was calculated to the 48.28% of the population, finding a prevalence of obesity of 6.60%. Tobacco: 54.11% of the population aged over 15 years old and 65.29% of the patients were screened. 16.79% of them smoke. Cardiovascular risk was assessed to the 56.11% of our patients. We obtained good control of TA (TA<140/90) in the 42.38% of the patients, cholesterol (CT<200) in the 33.66% and HbA1c (<7%) in the 36.79%. Conclusions The obtained prevalence and the control level are not high, but we need more time to register the total of our population. We need to emphasize the importance of the computerized consultation to get to know the real situation of our population.
