Photocathodes and Microchannel Plates

In this paper we describe the HERA-B RICH photo detector monitoring system, based on light from LEDs injected directly into the RICH exit window. Details of the optical, mechanical and electronics components are given together with the laboratory measurements and the first results of the system operation.
