In this paper we study the parallel solution of elliptic partial differential equations with the sparse grid combination technique. This algorithmic concept is based on the independent solution of many problems with reduced size and their linear combination. We describe the algorithm for three-dimensional problems and discuss its parallel implementation on a network of HP720 workstations and on vector computers.
