ResumoTo the Editor.— In 1973 Stroud and Mehregan described a patient with abnormally crimped hair, with triangular or kidney-shaped cross section, that tended to stick out. They termed this condition spun glass hair . In the same year, Dupre et al 2 described a similar abnormality of the hair which they called uncombable hair syndrome or pili trianguli et canaliculi , based on its ultrastructural finding. 2,3 There were several other reports describing this condition in the same family, suggesting an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance. 4,5 All previous such patients were reported to have normal eyebrows and eyelashes, or no mention was made about them. We describe a nonfamilial case of pili trianguli et canaliculi or, uncombable hair with involvement of both eyebrows and eyelashes.
