ResumoAbstract The reaction of diacetyl dianil (DAD) with methyl- and ethyl-aluminium compounds was investigated: withy methylaluminium dichloride, a donor-acceptor complex Dad-MeAlCl 2 was obtained, and with trialkylaluminiuim an organoaluminium product of the addition of the alkyl group R 3 Al to one of the two DAD azaomethine bonds. subsequent hydrolysis gives 2-( N -phenylamine)-2-alkylbuta-3-none anil, in each case. The yield of anil depends on the type (acidity) of organoaluminium compound and decreases in the order R 3 Al > R 2 AlCl > RAlCl 2 . A reaction mechanism is proposed.
