ResumoHigh-valent imido complexes are obtained by reaction of the manganese(III) corrole [Mn(tpfc)] with aryl azides by a novel reaction mechanism in which singlet nitrene undergoes intersystem crossing to the triplet state, which is trapped by the metal corrole, in competition with dimerization to the azo compound (see scheme).
