ResumoPhilo of Alexandria (30?B. C.-50? A.D.) is a key figure to understand the deep relation between Judaism and Helenism along the I century A. D. A practicing Jew, because of his intense command of Greek language, literature and, above all, Rethoric he was an extraordinary personality in his time, not only for his commentaries about the Torah (or Pentateuch) but also for his apologetic, historical and philosophical treatises. His testimony is very important for all student of classical Antiquity for the numerous details he offers concerning philosophy, thought, education and classical tradition in his own days, specially in his native city, extremely important cultural centre inside the Roman empire.
