ResumoThis work aims to study the agro-industries set up by German-Brazilians migrants who settled in the colony of Puerto Rico, Departamento Libertador General San Martin, Province of Misiones (1919-2009). Although their initial basic strategy was familyself-suffi ciency through small farms exploitation, from the early 1900s they implemented the industrialization of raw material or primary products that were available in their own lands. This research presents case studies that analyze the diversifi ed nature of these settlers’s strategies and describes brick factories and cassava starch production processes.
