ResumoThis essay focuses on the discourse of the former Brazilian soccer players who develop non‐profitable projects in some poor areas in Brazil. The study intends to investigate the social representation of five former soccer players over their work in this sector. It also seeks to analyze how they deal with issues like fame, success and retirement, and assess their influence to keep the social projects working. The former players selected for the study include: Raí and Leonardo ('Gol de Letra' in the cities of São Paulo and Niterói), Jorginho and Bebeto ('Bola Pra Frente Institute' in Rio de Janeiro) and Dunga ('Dunga Institute for the Citizen Development' in Porto Alegre).
