ResumoTogether with the struggle for the establishment of the religious tolerance and to break the overwhelming infl uence of the church, the question of the construction secular cemeteries grew in Chile and its development offers dramatic as well as interesting aspects. And if in the struggle for the religious tolerance extra factors contributed to facilitate its consecration, in the subject of secular cemeteries the Church was more favorable because the secular traditions and customs from which tenacity came were already consolidated.
