ResumoA comparison was made of the D-galactose uptake by rat, hamster and chicken intestine utilizing calcium-containing or calcium-free incubation fluid. The Wilson-Wiseman technique was employed. Qualitative differences were found in the response of the different intestines to calcium requirements as regards sugar active transport. No significant differences were observed in oxygen consumption.
