According to Elsys, new features of the TranAX 3.4 (formerly TransAS) client-server–based transient recorder application and signal analysis software make it one of the most complete data acquisition, analysis, and automation solutions available. Video recordings in common formats, such as avi, mp4, mpg, and so forth, can now be imported and synchronously displayed with actual measurement signals. This enables users to analyze measurement data and recordings by a high-speed camera simultaneously on screen. For analyzing acoustic signals, frequency spectra can be displayed as standard, octave, or 1/3 octave. Audio signals can be weighted in dB-A or dB-C. The redesigned formula editor is more powerful with more than 60 mathematical functions and an unlimited number of math traces included for extensive signal analysis. Program functions such as If/Then, Loops, End, True/False, and so forth make computing postmeasurement results from multiple simultaneous and/or sequential recordings easy and efficient. Events benefiting from these functions include multiblock recordings, a series of stored measurement files recorded by auto sequence or single-shot acquisitions with multiple events in one record. Application-specific computing algorithms can be stored and recalled for later use. Programming can be done separately in a higher-level language under Microsoft .NET, with the resulting software code then integrated as DLL in TranAX. Designed for use with Elsys’ turnkey TraNET Transient Recorders and its TPCX data acquisition modules, which form the heart of the modular TraNET systems, as well as TPCE modules equipped with four-lane PCIe architecture, the new TranAX 3.4 software remotely controls the data acquisition equipment over 1 Gbit LANs from any location worldwide. More: www.elsys-instruments.com EPLAN FieldSys is a field cabling add-on module, which is available with the new EPLAN Platform 2.2. This new planning tool allows cable-laying routes to be configured exactly to scale. It includes routing, database-assisted management of cable routes, and automatic data analysis to accelerate processes, simplify assembly and servicing, and ensure highly efficient system planning. Based on the connections between the devices defined in the electrical wiring diagram, EPLAN routes all cable connections within the defined network. Individual laying rules help plan optimum cable routes through the network. The length of the cables is also calculated, as are any extras required to connect the devices. Based on this routing information, EPLAN FieldSys generates comprehensive cable reports at the touch of a button. According to EPLAN, these reports are particularly important for assembly. Calculation of the cable length required for each cable type and connection, including source and target information, will guarantee accurate results. There are also reports showing the exact route for every cable, which are very helpful during the laying process. From the source, the fitter can follow the documentation step by step to the destination. In addition, having layout, cable routes, and cable reports as basic elements can increase the value of automation documentation. Important information is easily accessible not only at the fitting stage but also for service incidents, allowing errors to be quickly located and fixed. More: www.eplanusa.com New to the EPLAN range, this software complements the EPLAN Electric P8 CAE solution, which has previously handled the engineering of single wires and sheathed cables in control cabinets and field components. Harness Expert is an easy-to-use software suite that fully supports all aspects of wire harness engineering. Typical harness or wiring loom design processes are shown by the software in 3D. All 2D production documents are produced by the system, which allows comprehensive openness when it comes to the import and export of third-party systems in design, administration, and production. Integration between EPLAN Electric P8 and Harness Expert provides all relevant wiring information, such as wire specifications, source/target information, and bundle and socket assignments. The software offers different flexible approaches to designing a wire harness, and it uses the 3D or 2D wire harness layout to produce a wide range of reports. Data can be transferred directly to cable finishing systems such as Komax. To validate the wire harness design, the system has extensive, practical testing and checking functions for bending radii, fill levels, cable lengths, and bundles without wires and connectors. The aim is to identify possible inconsistency and errors at an early stage (i.e., prior to prototype production) and simplify corrections. More: www.eplanusa.com New-generation MEDIACLAVE 10/30 systems now provide the feature of digitally signed log files as a safeguard against tampering with downloaded files. The signed log files fully comply with FDA (21 CFR Part 11) and EU (GMP Annex 11) directives requirements for electronic process documentation. A newly integrated USB port on MEDIACLAVE 10/30 systems allows the automated transfer of all run data log files to a flash drive. In addition, MEDIACLAVE 10/30 systems are equipped with an Ethernet connection, allowing connection to a PC or LAN or easy integration with LIMS so run log files can be easily and simply transferred and archived to a personal computer or data storage device. More: www.integra-biosciences.com According to Thermo, Momentum 3.2 extends efficiency to enable the seamless integration of workflows with maximum operator simplicity. The upgraded software streamlines sample submission and allows the accurate execution of automated microtiter plate–handling processes, with easier user control and process management. Suitable for compliant labs, Momen-tum 3.2 provides an enhanced end-user experience alongside reliable automation programming. Significant improvements to operating simplicity include three user-level controls: administrator, scientist, and system operator. The scientist level allows the laboratory researcher to manage the processes to ensure that technical automated procedures are approved for execution. System operators are then exposed to only validated assays that can be routinely submitted with ease, in a few simple steps via touchscreen control. With these user levels, Momentum 3.2 is considered ideally suited for the completion of routine automated workflows and is designed to reduce the time, effort, and resources involved. The simplified user interface ensures samples are loaded, processed, and monitored under secure conditions. More: www.thermoscientific.com/automate Mosaic 5.0 provides comprehensive inventory management features, which include handling multiple substance types, managing storage locations, and supporting configurable sample-set management and usage restrictions. As well as a powerful interface for the simple ordering of stock samples, Mosaic also provides convenient interfaces to request the dispensing, customizable selection, reformatting, and dilution of samples into the desired format. Mosaic orders are progressed using Mosaic’s workflow management and fulfilment modules, which integrate with a variety of manual and automated storage systems and instruments. Also, Mosaic 5.0 now includes full support for Matrical and Brooks Automation “Nexus” automated stores and close integration with the BioMicroLab Tube Handler for tube sorting. The range of supported automated liquid handlers has also been extended and now includes the Labcyte Pod and Hamilton Star. Mosaic 5.0 communicates effectively with third-party systems, via new web services APIs, for sophisticated inventory access and manipulation. Furthermore, Mosaic can now be linked to multiple substance registration systems simultaneously, allowing multiple substance types to be managed within the same system. A new extended sample shipment module is also available, which aids the preparation of shipments (including the required accompanying documentation) and the tracking of these shipments through to receipt at a remote location. More: www.titian.co.uk Virtuoso 5.3 Digital Pathology Image and Workflow Management Software now offers a user interface in 21 languages. This web-based software orchestrates the digital slide workflow from the moment a slide is scanned until the slide image is viewed and the case results reported. VANTAGE 2.2 Workflow Solution for Histology Lab Specimen Tracking introduces increased laboratory information system integration capabilities, touchscreen workflow enhancements, and case assembly improvements. Through its integration with Virtuoso software, the VANTAGE workflow solution enables tracking the progress of a slide from preparation to digitization along with other slide information.
