Organometallic compounds having a chain-type structure such as (1) are of interest as potential one-dimensional electrical conductors. An example of (1) is Ni25(C4S4)26K2·x H2O (x ≈ 8); the conductivity of the compressed powder at 20 °C is 5 × 10−4 Ω−1 cm−1. The monomeric complex (2) can be reduced irreversibly in two steps by voltammetry.
