ResumoEffect of liming on mineral nutrition, growth and foliar critical levels of calcium and magnesium of umbu (Spondias tuberosa) seedlings Umbu (Spondias tuberosa) has great economic, social and ecological importance in the semi-arid region of Northeastern Brazil, however, there are few studies related to this fruit, mainly on mineral nutrition. Thus, the objective this work was to evaluate growth, mineral nutrition and foliar critical levels of Ca and Mg in umbu seedlings grown in a dystroferric Red Latosol subjected to liming. The experiment was arranged in a complete randomized design, with four replications and six base saturation levels (13.3, 19.5, 38.9, 58.9, 73.2 and 82.1%). Liming was carried out with CaCO 3 and MgCO 3 , molar ratio 3:1 (Ca:Mg). Liming promotes growth of umbu seedlings and a 70% base saturation can be indicated for the calculation of liming needed. Increase in base saturation increased the contents of Ca, Mg, and S and reduced the contents of N, P, K, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn in umbu seedlings. Critical levels of Ca and Mg in leaves of umbu seedlings ranged from 18.28 to 21.47 g kg -1 and from 2.80 to 3.26 g kg -1 , respectively.
