ResumoBackground: About half of the cardiac transplant population show moderate renal insufficiency two years after cardiac transplantation, and a few will suffer progressive decline in function that eventually results in end-stage renal failure (ESRF). until now there exist only reports about an increased risk of death in patients developing ESRF after cardiac transplantation whereas nothing is known about patients with slightly impaired kidney function. The purpose of this study was to identify a potential negative effect of impaired kideny function on long-term survival after cardiac transplantation
