Resumo

An episode of the series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy featuring a bisexual transsexual man brought an embodied vulnerable queerness to a series that had been premised on essentialist binary conceptions of sex, gender, and sexuality. The introduction of a makeover subject whose gender was not consonant with his birth sex forced the series to educate its viewers on subject matter that is culturally misunderstood, and to confront a liminal social identity that was not seamlessly accommodated within the standard Queer Eye format. The unique content of this episode serves to illustrate the educational potential of liminality.
