Her recent research has focused on information sharing and performance management in children's services. Karen Broadhurst is Senior Lecturer in Applied Social Science at Lancaster University. Her research interests centre on the organisation and delivery of child welfare services. She has a particular interest in the use of ethnographic methods to examine the enactment of law and social policy. Christopher Hall is a Social Care Researcher in the School of Medicine and Health at the University of Durham. His research interests are discourse and narrative approaches to social work, particularly regarding professional–service user communication.
