ResumoIn this paper we design block-structured LDPC codes for iterative MIMO receivers with soft sphere detection in particular channel environments. The receiver EXIT charts are used as a design tool. The main design constraint is to preserve the block-structure of parity-check matrices supporting modular semi-parallel decoder architectures. We show that newly designed block-structured code profiles provide improved error-rate performance of between 0.5 dB and 1 dB in different channel environments for moderate codeword size.
