ResumoABSTRACT The first two cases of canine visceral leishmaniasis in French Guiana are described. One infected dog was most probably imported from France. A second dog was then infected with Leishmania infantum in French Guiana. These observations exemplify the intercontinental transportation theory for L. infantum .
