The neighborhood of Poti Velho is located in the north of the city of Teresina, the confluence of the Parnaíba and Poti rivers.In this area there are several lakes with the presence of deposits of clay, whose sediments are deposited during flooding of the rivers.The presence of these catchment areas can explain the existence of craft activities -production potter and ceramic artist -using the clay sediments as raw material for the production of bricks, tiles, pots, pans and decorative objects.The production potter and ceramicist, this area about 50 years, is due to the traditional knowledge passed from generation to generation, and innovations in the community through bodies such as the Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas -SEBRAE.
