ResumoEthics in journalism has come to a serious level of deterioration in Bolivia. Fierce competition between the several mass media agents to conquer the restricted public and obtain the scarce advertisement has resulted in the prevalence of the mercantile dynamics over moral considerations. Also, once facing the negative reputation of political parties, the influence of press has grown to a stage of allowing the abuse. Despite the professional ethical codes, there have been attempts of self-regulation trying to correct the situation in order to regain credibility for the mass media.
