Resumo

Abstract A study is made of binary alloys, in which atoms of one of the components, and unlike atoms, interact ferromagnetically whereas the interaction between atoms of the other component is antiferromagnetic. Under these conditions a magnetic structure arises which involves a noncollinear alignement of the atomic magnetic moments. Expressions are given for calculating the average magnetic moment per atom and its dependence upon the concentration and the state of ordering. The results are compared with experimental data for NiMn, NiFe, and PdFe alloys.
